Technology for All Americans Project

Standards Hearings

In an effort to develop technological literacy and capability of all K-12 students, the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have funded the Technology for All Americans Project through the International Technology Education Association. The project is developing Content Standards for technology education for grades K-12.

One way the project built consensus on the first and second drafts of the Content Standards was through input from participants at conferences. Standards hearings were held on the second draft during the spring of 1998 and were held on the first draft during the fall of 1997 at regional and state technology education conferences as well as regional and national conferences of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE), and the International Technology Education Association (ITEA).
