POLICE CHARGE FIVE YOUTHS WITH STEALING, WRECKING TEACHER'S CAR

Five Roanoke youths have been charged with taking a car belonging to a teacher at Woodrow Wilson Junior High and going on a joy ride that ended with a wreck in Salem.

The youths - three of them students at Woodrow Wilson - apparently took the car from the school's parking lot Wednesday, police said today.

The car was found abandoned after striking a utility pole, police said.

Police made arrests in the case after one of the juvenile's parents reported the youth was missing.

The youths are 13 and 14 years old, police said. Two were from Grandin Road, two from Garden City and one was from Northwest Roanoke.
