REGION'S WINNERS IN ADDY AWARDS

Five Roanoke area agencies won medals Saturday night at the Third District Addy Award ceremony at Columbia, S.C.

Their work competed among more than 800 entries from Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, including the big ad markets in Richmond and Charlotte.

The Jack Smith Agency took five bronze medals, all for its work for Frances Kahn.

They were for three different ads in a consumer magazine, for a newspaper ad, and for a regional campaign.

Other winners from Western Virginia were:

Virginia Tech's in-house staff, a silver medal for logo design.

Finnegan & Agee, a Richmond agency that competes locally on accounts from its Roanoke office, a silver for a business publication for Bell South.

Edmonds Packett Group, a bronze for local public-service television on behalf of United Way.

Bolt Advertising, a bronze for print material for TAP.
