SMYTHERS, HATTIE A.\ WOODLAWN - Hattie Alderman Smythers, of Rt. 1, Woodlawn, passed away Saturday evening in Twin County Community Hospital, Galax. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Lucinda Alderman and the widow of Charlie Michael Smythers. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. Nile and Faye Smythers, Lynchburg; Mr. Charles and Shelby Smythers of Austinville; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Frazier, Woodlawn; Mrs. Helen Shupe, Hillsville; two brothers, Mr. Ray Alderman of Galax; Mr. Freiel Alderman of Galax; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Robinson of Galax; Mrs. Cecila Revis, Galax; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a special family friend, Mr. Walter Smith of Blacksburg. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with the Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville.
