WOMEN'S FINAL FOUR WILL SWITCH TO SATURDAY-SUNDAY FORMAT

The NCAA Tournament women's Final Four will switch from a Friday-Sunday format to a Saturday-Sunday schedule next year because of its television contract with CBS. Judie Holland, chairwoman of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee, said the change was made so CBS could televise the semifinals Saturday as a lead-in to the men's semifinals. CBS also will show the championship game today.

This year, the Friday night semifinal games were shown by the ESPN cable network. CBS will televise today's championship game.

\ Starting next season, a player fouled while attempting a 3-point shot will be awarded three free throws, according to a revision announced by the NCAA women's rules committee.
