MAN ELECTROCUTED AS METAL LADDER HITS POWER LINES

A 22-year-old construction worker was electrocuted Sunday morning when an aluminum ladder he was carrying accidentally brushed against a set of power lines overhead.

Police identified the victim as Joe Louis Ingram of Christiansburg. Efforts to revive Ingram were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Blacksburg police said the incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. as Ingram worked at a new apartment complex on North Main Street, near the Poly Scientific plant.

Ingram was carrying a ladder that was fully extended when he apparently slipped and the ladder brushed power lines, causing the electric shock.
