Elmer Luther Utt, age 90, passed away Saturday, April 7, 1990, at his home, 3052 Hemlock Lane S.W. Mr. Utt was retired from the Norfolk & Western Railway, was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the Ohio State Archaeological Society in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Roanoke College. Mr. Utt was the son of the late Rev. and Mrs. John D. Utt. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ella Estelle McCray Utt; two daughters, E. Marie Utt Hoal and Connie Patricia Utt; one grandson, J. Luther Utt; two great-granddaughters; one brother, John William Utt, all of Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Roanoke Life Saving Crew. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday in Kittinger Family Cemetery on Old Mill Road in Roanoke County with Dr. William E. Kinser (a nephew of Mr. Utt) officiating.
