James P. Dodd, Sr., of Salem, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, April 12, 1990. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn O. Dodd; two sons, James P. Dodd, Jr., Buchanan; Stephen L. Dodd, Salem; two daughters, Judy D. Mays, Quinton; and Barbara Dodd Hall of Salem; five grandchildren, Jacqueline C. Lee of Provo, Utah; Brian D. and Jason H. Hall of Salem; and Jonathan C. Mays, Quinton; Stephanie Steele of Buchanan; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Lee and Spencer Eriksen of Utah; four sisters, Ellen Stiff of Thaxton; Betty Weeks of Alexandria; Velma Edwards of Rustburg; Laura Fitzgerald of Piney River. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 1990, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Service will be held at the funeral home Saturday, April 14, 1990, at 12 noon with interment in Sherwood Memorial Park.
