CAVS LAND 3 SOCCER ALL-AMERICANS

Virginia's soccer team, NCAA co-champion in 1989, has announced the signing of three Parade All-Americans.

Two of the signees were two-time Parade selections, including goalie Tom Henske from Northport, N.Y. Henske is the heir apparent to Tony Meola, 1989 college player of the year, who turned pro after the season in preparation for the World Cup.

Mike Huwiler, a defender and midfielder from Wauwatosa, Wis., also was a two-time Parade choice.

The third signee, midfielder-defender Brian Bates from Woodbridge High School, was a member of the U.S. Under-20 National Team, as was Huwiler. - Staff report
