RECREATION AREA TOPIC OF LECTURE

A lecture on the development of the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area and its connection with federal recreation policies of the 1960s and 1970s is scheduled for Clinch Valley College's last faculty colloquium of the semester April 24.

The talk will be given by L. Sue Greer, assistant professor of sociology, in the Chapel of All Faiths at 1 p.m.

It will include the role of local public participation and protest, the impact of land acquisitions and the contribution of U.S. Forest Service activities toward commercial recreation development.

Her paper is based on research done from 1977 to 1982. The program is open to the public.

The Mount Rogers area covers 154,000 acres in the counties of Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington and Wythe.
