MAN SHOT IN NECK

A man shot in the neck Monday night in Roanoke was undergoing surgery early today.

Leon Robert Taylor, 40, was found by police after they responded to a report of a shooting in the 2300 block of Clifton Avenue Northwest about 8 p.m. Monday.

Taylor was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. No report was available on his condition.

Police arrested Shaheed Omar of the 1700 block of Grayson Avenue Northwest.

Omar, 40, was charged with malicious wounding and illegal use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He was released Monday night from the Roanoke City Jail on his own recognizance.

No details on the shooting were released by police.
