GLENVAR'S TITLE STRING ENDS AT SIX

Jenny Williams scattered seven hits, got her team's only hit and scored the decisive run as Parry McCluer clinched its first Pioneer District softball title with a 3-2 win at Glenvar on Monday.

The Fighting Blues (10-1 in district, 13-2 overall) ended Glenvar's string of six straight district championships.

At Maher Field, Shelley Bowles (10-0) added to her long list of impressive pitching performances as Franklin County beat Patrick Henry 7-0 in the Roanoke Valley District. Bowles (10-0) struck out six and allowed just two hits. At the plate, she was 3-for-3 with two RBI for Franklin County (12-1).

Jackie Baker was 2-for-5 with three runs batted in and Heather Hoback was 3-for-5 with two RBI as host Cave Spring pummeled William Fleming 14-5 in the RVD.
