C&P TO RAISE ROANOKE RATES 3 CENTS IN JULY

C&P Telephone Co. announced that its Roanoke customers will pay about 3 cents more on their monthly bills, starting July 2, as the result of a city tax increase. C&P pays .5 percent in a gross receipts tax and its surcharge on local service will go up from 2.25 percent to 2.5 percent on July 2.

The present gross receipts tax of 29 cents a month for a home with basic unlimited telephone service will rise to 32 cents on next month's telephone bills, according to Don Reid, Roanoke C&P manager.
