ROCKET TAKES INDIAN SATELLITE INTO SPACE

A Delta rocket lifted into orbit today an Indian communications satellite that was grounded a year because of damage first from a launch pad accident and then the California earthquake.

Once it becomes operational in mid-July, the satellite will send video and voice signals to TV, radio and disaster-warning receivers, and transmit weather observations to a forecasting center in New Delhi.
