ARSENAL'S NEW CHIEF TAKING HELM

Lt. Col. Dennis P. Duplantier will become the 25th commander of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant on Friday.

He will succeed Lt. Col Richard D'Andrea, who has been reassigned to a post at Fort Belvoir in Northern Virginia.

Arsenal commanders serve two-year terms.

Duplantier was formerly acting chief of the chemical and nuclear division of the Office of Deputy Chief of Staff for Ammunition, Chemical and Nuclear Division, Alexandria.

Duplantier is a New Orleans native who earned bachelor's and master's degrees at Tulane University.

He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in August 1969 and assigned as a chemical staff officer at Pine Bluff, Ark., where he spent nearly eight years.

Later, he was assigned to Johnson Atoll, Hawaii; and Fort Hood, Texas.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He is married and has three children.
