EX-HALIFAX COUPLE, WED 64 YEARS, DIES WITHIN ONE-DAY SPAN

A couple married for 64 years died within a day of each other.

Thomas Coleman Sr., 87, a retired farmer from Halifax, Va., died at 4 a.m. Friday in Lutheran Senior City. About 1 a.m. Saturday, Coleman's wife, Ellen, 82, was found dead in her bed at the home of a daughter, Beatrice Owens.

They had moved to Columbus in October from their farm in Halifax, said their granddaughter, Andrea Crim.

"I guess grandma couldn't face letting Tom go without being with him," Crim said.

Both had been in good health until recently, when Thomas Coleman had a stroke, Crim said.

Services for the couple will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus.
