The American Cancer Society's 17th Annual Golf Championships will be held Monday and Tuesday. This year's goal is to raise $12,000 for the society's research, education and service programs.
The men's tournament will be held Monday at Blue Hills Golf Club, and the women's tournament is scheduled for Tuesday at Hidden Valley Country Club. Both tournaments will have morning and afternoon shotgun starts.
The tournament is a scramble format, and the fees are $180 for men's teams and $140 for women's teams. Tournament winners will be eligible for state competition in September.

\ IronKids triathlon set July 7, 8 at Fallon Park
The 1990 Rainbo Bread IronKids Triathlon, sponsored by the YMCA of Roanoke Valley, will be held July 7 and 8 at Fallon Park.
Registration is open to children ages 7-14, each of whom will swim, cycle and run. Juniors (ages 7-10) will swim 100 meters, cycle 3.1 miles and run six-tenths of a mile. Seniors (ages 11-14) will swim 200 meters, cycle 6.2 miles and run 1.2 miles.
Participants must attend an orientation July 7. The event will begin at 8 a.m. July 8. The entry fee is $10 per child before June 29 and $15 thereafter.
Those competing must supply their own bicycles and must wear helmets. Entry forms are available at the Central and Family Center branches of the YMCA, at radio station K92, at sporting-goods stores or on packages of Rainbo Bread. For more information, call Cal Johnson at 343-2476.
