OIL SPILL CLEANUP UNDER WAY

A Richmond company has been hired to clean the approximately 40,000 feet of Appomattox River banks that were coated by oil that spilled from a ship.

OHM Remediation Services Crop. had more than a dozen workers on the site Tuesday and was preparing to send more, company spokesman John Bourret said. He said the company was hired by Anatato Navigation Corp., owner of the vessel that accidentally discharged about 1,000 gallons of oil at the Allied-Signal Corp. pier Friday night.
