DULLES-FALLS CHURCH RAIL LINK FUNDS UNLIKELY

Federal officials have told Northern Virginia officials that no funds are available for a proposed $700 million rail line that would link Falls Church and Dulles International Airport.

In a letter dated Jan. 28, the top U.S. transit administrator said federal funding for the rail project in the next 10 years is "highly unlikely."

Brian Clymer, head of the Urban Mass Transportation Administration, said that any federal transit money for the Washington, D.C., area will be devoted to finishing the 103-mile Metrorail system.
