STORE SELLING SEXUALLY EXPLICIT ITEMS CLOSED

A bookstore which sold an array of sexually explicit magazines, videos and sex toys was forced to close on charges that the parent company had no authority to conduct business in Virginia.

Commonwealth's Attorney W. Parker Councill said James River Books Inc., the corporate owner and operator of James River News, failed to register with the state as a corporation.

The store's business license was taken Friday on charges that it had been obtained without a certificate of authority from the state, Councill said. - Associated Press
