QUINTON POST OFFICE HANGS TROOPS POSTER

A new poster honoring New Kent County residents serving in the Persian Gulf was placed in the Quinton post office after postal officials reversed their decision to ban a similar patriotic display last week.

The postal clerks' new poster has a map of Saudi Arabia with 21 yellow ribbons instead of the residents' names. Postal authorities stipulated that names be left off the new poster.

Del. George W. Grayson, D-James City County, was contacted by residents after postal authorities banned the poster because of regulations that prohibit "objectionable, subversive, or controversial" matter from being posted.
