WOMAN SENTENCED IN SON'S SHOOTING

A woman who befriended gang members half her age has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for her involvement in her son's shooting.

Prosecutors described Donna A. Culpepper, a 36-year-old mother of four, as a "Mafia mom."

In June, Culpepper and her 13-year-old daughter sat outside in a parked car as gang members shot their way into a party attended by her son, Terry Poff, and members of another gang. Poff, then 17, and an 18-year-old were wounded.

"She said she wanted to mother them," Circuit Judge Lydia C. Taylor said. "But what she truly wanted to do was be one of them." - Associated Press
