TUNSTALL'S LONG FALLS IN AA FINAL

Chris Long of Tunstall couldn't complete a perfect season in the Group AA wrestling tournament as he lost 17-0 on a technical fall to Park View-Sterling's John Kotch in the 171-pound final Saturday night.

Long finished 24-1 after winning three matches, including a 4-3 semifinal upset of Grundy's Tim Rutherford.

Martinsville also experienced slight disappointment, despite finishing sixth in the team standings. The Bulldogs fell from fifth to sixth as Orange's Roy Walker pinned Charles Spangler in overtime of the 275-pound heavyweight match. That helped Orange edge the Bulldogs 74 1/2-73 for fifth.

"If it had been anything other than a pin, we finish fifth and that was one of our team goals," Martinsville coach Spencer Chang said.
