Unilever, the British-Dutch parent of Elizabeth Arden, the Roanoke cosmetics manufacturer, said Tuesday its net earnings rose 22 percent to $2 billion last year from $1.6 billion in 1989 and sales increased 18 percent to $39.6 billion from $33.4 billion.
