NC-17 decisions praised
WASHINGTON - The Communications Committee of the U.S. Catholic Conference has praised the Sacramento (Calif.) Union and the Birmingham (Ala.) News for their decisions not to carry advertisements of sexually explicit and violent movies which the movie industry has given a new NC-17 designation instead of the former X-rating.
Blockbuster Video also was praised for its decision not to offer such films for rental.
