Virginia Baptist women active in the Woman's Missionary Union will gather at the Roanoke Civic Center on March 12-13. The state meeting, which attracts several hundred, will include messages by Delanna O'Brien of Birmingham, Ala., executive director of the W.M.U.

Workers with overseas, national and regional ministries will present programs on their specialties. The convention will begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and end the following day at 4 p.m.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Leaders of the Southern Baptist Brotherhood Commission have endorsed the development of a military magazine designed to meet the spiritual and personal needs of military personnel. - Associated Press

NC-17 decisions praised

WASHINGTON - The Communications Committee of the U.S. Catholic Conference has praised the Sacramento (Calif.) Union and the Birmingham (Ala.) News for their decisions not to carry advertisements of sexually explicit and violent movies which the movie industry has given a new NC-17 designation instead of the former X-rating.

Blockbuster Video also was praised for its decision not to offer such films for rental.
