COLLEGE TO SPONSOR GARDEN TOUR

A tour of public gardens in the Philadelphia, Pa., area has been scheduled for May 17-19 by The Community Arboretum at Virginia Western and The Virginia Western Horticultural Society.

Gardens on the tour will include Longwood Gardens, Winterthur Gardens, the Scott Arboretum, the Tyler Arboretum, Fairmount Park-Oriental Garden, John Bartram's Garden, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

The 45th Williamsburg Garden Symposium will be held April 7-10 and will focus on the need for science and education in gardening and on handling wildlife in the garden.

Roger B. Swain, science editor of Horticulture Magazine and host of "Victory Garden" on PBS, and Warren Schultz, editor-in-chief of National Garden Magazine, are among the speakers. Schultz will discuss a visit to Soviet gardeners.
