KERSTEN-GATES

Mr. and Mrs. William A. Kersten of Fairfax, Va., announce the engagement of their daughter, Joanne Marie, to Paul Vincent Gates, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Giovagnoli of Laflin, Pa., and the late Paul V. Gates, Sr., formerly of Roanoke. Miss Kersten and Mr. Gates are graduates of Virginia Tech. A June 1 wedding is planned in Fairfax, Va.
