GROGAN, CHARLIE P.

Charlie Peyton Grogan, age 82, of 722 Henry Avenue, died Wednesday morning in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Henry County, the son of the late Morton Grogan and Minnie Merriman Grogan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Painter Grogan; a sister, Myrtle Green; two brothers, Henry Grogan and Eugene Grogan. Mr. Grogan started work for Coleman Furniture Corporation in 1929 in Production and Product Development. He held many positions with Coleman becoming General Superintendent of the Plant in 1947. He held that position until his retirement in 1973. Mr. Grogan having been so active during his working career was unhappy in retirement and returned to work for Coleman in less than a month. He worked as a Product Development Engineer, holding that position for five years. Mr. Grogan's life was his work and his concern and compassion for his fellow employees. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, having served on the Church Council, Property Committee and Building Committee. He is survived by two sisters, Louise Grogan and Mrs. F. D. (Mamie) Lambeth, both of Martinsville; two brothers, Wilbur Grogan and Roy Grogan, both of Martinsville. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven P. Ridenhour officiating. Burial will follow in St. Johns Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wytheville. Visiting will be after 1:00 p.m. Thursday and the family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Abiding Memorial Fund of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Thomas M.
