9TH DISTRICT DEMOCRATS SET HEARING ON PLAN

The Ninth District Democratic Committee will hold a public hearing on the 1992 Delegate Selection Plan on March 16, 11 a.m.-noon, at the Martha Washington Inn in Abingdon. The Ninth District includes the New River Valley.

The plan calls for a series of county and city caucuses throughout Virginia in April 1992 in which Democratic voters will select delegates to congressional district conventions and the State Democratic Convention. At those conventions, delegates and alternates to the 1992 Democratic National Convention in New York will be named.

The plan is similar to the one used in 1988 except that apportionment of delegates to candidates will be based on caucus attendance, not a preferential primary.

Copies of the plan may be obtained from the Democratic Party of Virginia, 1001 E. Broad St., Suite LL25, Richmond, Va., 23219. For information about the hearing, call Jamie Woodhouse, Ninth District Democratic chairman, 639-7235.
