ROAD FUNDS TO BE TOPIC OF MEETING

State transportation officials will hold the annual public hearing on construction money for Southwest Virginia roads March 18 at Virginia Highlands Community College.

Secretary of Transportation John Milliken and Commissioner Ray Pethtel are scheduled to attend with members of the Commonwealth Transportation Board. The session will start with their remarks.

Speakers from the counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell and Tazewell and towns of Bluefield, Richlands and Tazewell will speak from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.

Those from Bland, Grayson, Smyth, Washington and Wythe counties, the city of Bristol and towns of Abingdon, Marion and Wytheville will have the floor from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

The last group, scheduled to be heard from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m., covers Lee, Scott and Wise counties, the city of Norton and towns of Big Stone Gap and Wise. - Southwest bureau
