It is open to writers of all ages, and sponsored by Lonesome Pine Properties. Winners will be announced April 23 at Mountain Empire Community College during the festival.
Stories should be limited to 1,500 words, typed, double-spaced and mailed with the contestant's name, address and telephone number to Lonesome Pine Short Story Contest, Community Relations Department, Mountain Empire Community College, Drawer 700, Big Stone Gap, Va. 24219. The entry deadline is April 1.
A regional Appachian theme is suggested but not required.
