TERRY PLUNK'S FUNERAL SCHEDULED MONDAY AT 3 P.M.

The funeral for Terry Plunk, the Army lieutenant from Vinton killed in action in the Persian Gulf War, will be 3 p.m. Monday at Vinton Baptist Church.

Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, with full military honors by an honor guard from the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, a family spokesman said.

Plunk, 25, was a member of the 82nd Airborne, which was the first American combat force sent to the gulf. He was killed Feb. 26 while clearing mines near Kuwait City.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Terry Plunk Memorial Scholarship Fund - which has been set up at William Byrd High School - or to Vinton Baptist Church.

A memorial service also has been scheduled for Plunk at Virginia Military Institute on March 24. Plunk was a 1988 graduate of VMI.
