ACCIDENT RULED IN CLINIC BLAZE

The fire that killed 20 dogs and cats, a pet rat and a boa constrictor at a Blacksburg animal clinic last weekend has been ruled accidental.

Blacksburg Police Chief Don Carey said the fire at the Companion Animal Clinic started near the building's furnace, but it was not deliberately set.

Parts of the furnace have been sent to state laboratories to determine how the blaze started.

Carey said it would take several weeks to get test results.
