HIKE IN RADAR FEES IS EXCESSIVE

DISABLED citizens are being confronted with a fee of $1.50 to offset the cost of expanding services from Roanoke Agencies Dial-a-Ride. Those fees would not be considered large by those not on fixed incomes or who need not be concerned with analyzing their spending habits. People on fixed incomes will be severely hampered in their effort to remain independent.

The disabled are striving to be a visible segment of society with hopes of improvements in the future. Nor are we content to be handed a crumb and told, "be glad you got something."

We suggest a fee of 50 cents because it would be more practical than seeking an immediate solution on the backs of those who can least afford it. We would like to have been consulted before this decision was made. BENJAMIN LAW ROANOKE
