David H. Skeens, age 73, of 4533 Thirlane Road, N.W., died at his home Saturday, March 16, 1991. He was a retired employee of Wells Furniture Company. He was born in Glen Lyn, Va. and was predeceased by his parents, Joseph G. and Nora Thomas Skeens. He is survived by his wife, Ila C. Skeens; stepson, Billy L. Smithers Sr.; four stepgrandchildren, Michael, Timothy, Billy Jr., and Shannon Smithers, all of Roanoke; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Andy Smithers Craft, Roanoke; Amber Smithers, Maryland; five sisters, Hallie Fields, Pearl Broyles, and Alma Broyles, all of Narrows; Emma Mutter, South Carolina; Mabel Montgomery, West Virginia; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, with burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel after 1:00 p.m. Monday.
