SEARCHERS FIND BODY OF BOY, 2

Prince William County police said today they have found the body of a small child in the area where searchers have been looking for a missing 2-year-old Dumfries boy since Sunday.

Authorities said the body was found shortly after 9 a.m. near some summer rental cabins in Prince William Forest Park, WRC-TV reported.

Police did not immediately confirm that the body was that of Travis Soper.

Police and rescue workers began searching a 1-square-mile area of Prince William Forest Park about 7 p.m. Sunday. Travis was last seen near the area about 5:30 p.m.

Travis, dressed in a black T-shirt, stone-washed blue jeans and high-topped purple and white tennis shoes, was playing with a group of friends when he disappeared.

He was being watched by a 12-year-old neighbor, said his mother, Marie.

"I'm praying to God that he's fine because I can't handle it if someone had him," she said. "I feel that if he would have wandered off, he would have come back by now. He's only 2 years old. He couldn't have walked that far away." - Associated Press
