RADER, JESSE L.

Jesse Lee Rader, age 84, of Roanoke died Monday, March 18, 1991. He was preceded in death by his parents, John G. and Berta R. Rader. Mr. Rader was a Army Veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement as a Combat Medic with the First Infantry Division. He also received the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Arrowhead for participation in the Invasion of Normandy, the Combat Medic Badge and the E.T.O. Ribbon with five battle stars. He was a retired employee of Graves-Humphreys Hardware Company after 33 years of service in the Shipping Department. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Stott Rader; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn R. and John L. Thompson, Jr., Roanoke; Margaret R. and Bernard D. Meadows, Richmond; grandson, John (Ian) Lewis Thompson, III; two brothers, Roland R. Rader, Fincastle; John V. Rader, Troutville; two sisters, Agnes R. Kinzie, Troutville; Mae R. Obenshain, Fincastle. A service will be held at Sherwood Abbey at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Robert Alderman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Oakey's South Chapel.
