HULL GETS 80TH GOAL OF SEASON

Brett Hull became the third NHL player to score 80 goals in one season as the St. Louis Blues ended a six-game winless streak and stalled the Washington Capitals' playoff drive with a 2-1 victory Tuesday night.

Hull's first-period goal put him in a select club that previously had included only Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky.

Lemieux scored 85 goals in 1988-89, and Gretzky reached the 80-goal barrier twice, first in 1981-82 when he got an NHL-record 92.

Hull scored on the power-play at 8:41 when he easily beat goalie Don Beaupre with a wrist shot to extend his point-scoring streak to nine games. - Associated Press
