BLACKSBURG TO HOLD RECYCLING MEETING

A public meeting entitled "Recycling and Waste Management: A Reality for the 21st Century" will be held next Thursday at the Blacksburg Municipal Building.

Panel members who will address the topic are James Craig of the Virginia Waste Management Board; Steve Via of the New River Valley Planning District Commission; Tim McCoy and Randall Bowling of the Montgomery County Public Works Department; Lance Terpenny, Christiansburg's assistant town manager; Adele Shirmer, Blacksburg's public works director.

Also, Dave Vogelsong, Blacksburg's engineer for recycling and curbside pickup; Larry Bechtel, Virginia Tech recycling coordinator, Ian Gibson of the student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers; Bobby Underwood, owner of Bob's Refuse Service; Robert Blanton of the Montgomery County Improvement Council; Richard Dooley of Cycle Systems Inc.; Kelly Bridge of Corning Glass Works; and Bob Baker of Kroger.

The meeting is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County and will be broadcast live on Channel 24, public access television.

It will be re-broadcast on April 17 at 7:30 p.m.
