E&H COACH, PLAYER GET BASKETBALL HONORS

Emory and Henry men's basketball coach Bob Johnson was voted district coach of the year and forward Leon Hill was selected to the All-America Division III third team in balloting by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the college announced Wednesday.

Johnson is one of eight finalists for national coach-of-the-year honors. He guided the Wasps to a 25-5 record this season, their fourth consecutive 20-victory season, and they reached the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four years.

Hill, a 6-foot-6 senior forward from Madison, led the Wasps and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with a 23.8 scoring average. He set a school record with 88 steals this season. He was a second-team All-American last season. - Staff report
