SIGN UP FOR SHARE

SHARE, the Self-Help and Resource Exchange food program, is a non-profit, non-governmental program sponsored by New River Community Action and it can help you save money on food.

Participants pay $13, plus applicable sales tax, and two hours of community service and receive 25 to 35 pounds of food valued at approximately $30.

The food unit consists of meat, vegetables, fruits and staples. Distribution is once a month and participants pay their money through a host organization. There are no income guidelines and participants that pay with Food Stamps pay $13, but no sales tax.

The sign-up deadline for this month is April 8. Call 381-1185 for information.

\ Blacksburg Baptist Church: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at church office.

\ Blacksburg Presbyterian Church: Thursday, April 4, 4-6 p.m.; Sunday, April 7, noon-1p.m.

\ St. Mary's Catholic Church: Sundays, 9:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in lobby or call Cheryl Simon at 951-1359.

\ Warm Hearth Village: Tuesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 4, 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m.

\ St. Michael Lutheran Church: Friday, April 5, 2-4 p.m.; Saturday April 6, 10 a.m.-noon; Sunday, April 7, noon-3 p.m.
