BLACKSBURG CABLE INCREASES CAPACITY

As part of rebuilding Blacksburg Cable's plant, the cable company increased its channel capacity and built an interconnect to Virginia Tech. It is currently being used as a means of getting three new channels on the Blacksburg cable lineup.

SCOLA, Satellite Communications for Learning, can be watched on channel 37. SCOLA features half-hour news segments from countries around the world. These news segments originate from different countries and are spoken in that country's dialect and perspective.

Univision can be watched on Channel 23. Univision features Spanish-language programming 24 hours a day.

In addition to SCOLA and Univision, Virginia Tech also initiates the programming for channel 30. This channel is a mixture of French-language programming, class tutorials and other programming of interest.
