CARTER, EUGENE L., SR.\
Eugene Lewis Carter, Sr., age 68, of Vinton, Va., passed away Friday in a
Roanoke hospital. He was a veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree Mason, a
member of Lakeland Masonic Lodge No. 190, A.F.& A.M. and a Shriner. He is
survived by his wife, Marsha Bowles Carter; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda
Joyce and Eugene Ferguson of Chester Gap, Va.; Janis Renee and Douglas
Shaffner of Roanoke; son, John Gordon Carter, Sr., and fiancee, Kim Burdette
of Vinton; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene Lewis and Lynne Carter, Jr. of
Radford; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Lena Hamlett of
Roanoke; two nieces and two nephews. Funeral services will be at Lapsley
Chapel of First Presbyterian Church 1:00 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Sherrell
Duke officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends
may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel Sunday.
