HOKIES STUN GAMECOCKS

Mike Reedy drove in three runs and winning pitcher Jonathan Frohm threw five innings of scoreless relief as Virginia Tech edged No. 25 South Carolina 4-3 Friday in Metro Conference baseball at English Field.

Reedy finished 2-for-4, and shortstop David Dallas added three hits in four at-bats.

Frohm, a sophomore right-hander, took over for starter Brad Clontz in the fourth inning and struck out five, walked none and gave up four hits in his five innings of work. Clontz, coming off an elbow injury that sidelined him for three weeks, pitched three solid innings, allowing one run.

The Hokies are 15-17 overall and 5-4 in the Metro. South Carolina is 30-13 and 6-7.
