COVINGTON MAN DIES AFTER WRECK

A 20-year-old Covington man died early Thursday of injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident in Alleghany County, state police said.

Jeffrey Allen Sharp was driving a pickup truck about 1 a.m. on Virginia 18 when the truck ran off the left side of the road, struck a tree and overturned into a river, authorities said.

The accident occurred a mile and a half south of Virginia 1215.

Sharp died at 4 a.m. at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
