LYNN DICKERSON, FORMER PASTOR, DIES AT AGE 95

Dr. Lynn C. Dickerson, former pastor of Baptist churches in Roanoke, Pulaski, Radford and Harrisonburg, died Friday.

Dickerson, a Henrico County resident, was 95.

A native of Charlotte County, Dickerson was pastor of the First Baptist Church in Pulaski from 1918-22, the First Baptist Church in Radford from 1922-34 and the Harrisonburg Baptist Church from 1938-60. He was interim pastor of Grandin Court Baptist Church from 1960-61.

He also was pastor of the Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson, W.Va., and chaplain of the Federal Prison for Women in Alderson from 1934-38.

Dickerson was a graduate and trustee emeritus of the University of Richmond. The university conferred upon him an honorary doctor of divinity degree in 1954.

Dickerson also was a member of the board of the General Baptist Association of Virginia and in 1944-45 was district governor of Rotary clubs for the district extending from Winchester to Greeneville, Tenn.
