FLEMING, NORTHSIDE RUN AT VOLUNTEER MEET

William Fleming's and Northside's high school track teams each had first-place finishers Saturday in the Volunteer Classic at the University of Tennessee.

Fleming's Monica Cabbler won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 3 inches, and also placed first in the triple jump with a 37-6 1/2.

Cabbler also was a member of the fourth-place 1,600-meter relay team and fifth-place 800 relay team. Toni Kabia finished sixth in the 300 hurdles.

For Northside, Brian Burke won the high jump with a school-record jump of 6-10. The Vikings' Curtis Ballard placed third in the triple jump and Lenai Clegg was sixth in the girls' 200 meters. - Staff report
