SLEDD, JAMES R., SR. James Roosevelt Sledd Sr., age 72, of 3907 Old Catawba Road died Saturday in a local hospital. He was preceded in death by a son, James R. (Jimmy) Sledd Jr. Surviving are his wife, Minnie A. Sledd; sons, Kenneth Ray Sledd, William Charles Sledd, both of Salem; daughters, Joan Carolyn Davis, Barbara Jean Lamb, Brenda Gail Bryant, all of Salem; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Weta Hylton, Texas. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. William Stovall officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel.
