OBIT CALLAHAN, A.

CALLAHAN, ALVA B. Alva Brown Callahan, age 72, of Route 1, passed away Saturday, January 11, 1992 in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born February 2, 1919 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Drury Brown and Kate St. Clair Brown. Her husband was the late Warren A. Callahan. She was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Alva Vernelle Callahan, Roanoke; two brothers, Ewell C. Brown, Alexandria; James E. Brown, Floyd; three sisters, Myrtle Saunders, Thaxton; Evelyn Bradley, Long Beach, N.C.; Janie St. Clair, Vinton. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 14, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Bill Mitchell and the Rev. Karen Adams. Interment will be in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today and tomorrow from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
