BASS SCHOOL POPULAR

The Bass Fishing Techniques Institute, which uses high-profile fishermen to teach angling, is coming to the Roanoke area for the first time early February.

Sponsored by Virginia Tech, the instructors include Larry Nixon, tournament fishing's all-time money winner; Woo Daves, Virginia's most successful tournament fisherman; Zell Rowland; Joe Thomas; Jerry Rhyne; and Dick Healey.

The program, which is limited to 300 fishermen, attracted 100 participants in three days, the sponsor said. Enrollment information is available from the conference registrar at Virginia Tech, 703-231-5182. The fee is $69. The Feb. 1-2 program will be held at the Tanglewood Holiday Inn.
